Everything people ask us

41 answers, and they are the real ones — how the product actually behaves, including the parts that are a no. If yours is not here, the help chat in the corner answers from these same pages and hands anything it cannot answer to a person.

The basics

What this is and what happens when you send one.

What is GreetSpark?
An animated greeting card you send by email. The recipient gets a link, the card opens with an envelope, music and your message, and it looks the same on a phone as on a laptop.
Does the person receiving it need an app or an account?
No. They click the link and the card opens in whatever browser they already have. They never sign up for anything, and we never add them to a mailing list.
How do I know they opened it?
We email you when the card is actually opened, with the time — not when it was delivered. Opening your own card does not count, so the first notification you get is genuinely them.
How long does the card link stay alive?
Indefinitely. We have no plan to expire cards, and if we ever had to we would give at least ninety days' notice by email to the sender.
Can I see the card before I pay?
Yes, the whole thing. You pick the occasion, the animation and the envelope, write your message and watch it play — payment is the last step, not the first.
What can I put in a card?
A photograph, a recorded voice note up to 60 seconds, a soundtrack from 101 tracks, and an RSVP question whose replies come back to your inbox. New cards start silent; music is only added if you choose it.

Paying for it

Prices, Sparks, allowances and what "unlimited" actually means.

What is a Spark?
A Spark is one card that tears open on their phone: the envelope, your words, a photo, a voice note, the music, the confetti, and an email to you the moment it is opened. The person receiving it needs no app and no account. Plans are counted in Sparks: 3 free ones a month, $3.99 for one, bundles of five and twelve, or unlimited. Don't send a card. Send a Spark.
How much does one Spark cost?
$3.99 for a single Spark, sent with no watermark. Bundle of Joy is $12.99 if you send more than one, and the Sparks last twelve months.
Is there a free option?
Yes — 3 free Sparks a month, every month, no card details asked for. Free Sparks carry a small GreetSpark mark on the card and the video. Everything else, including scheduling for 6 am their time, is the same card the paid tiers send.
What happens when my free Sparks run out?
You can still make cards. You get the link and share it yourself — what stops is us putting it in somebody's inbox for you. NFC links and QR codes never run out. The allowance refills at the start of the next month.
Does "Unlimited Joy" really mean unlimited?
It means 300 Sparks a month, and if you reach that, another 300 is one click away and costs nothing, once a month. The ceiling exists so nobody runs a mailing list through the word unlimited; it is not there to stop you sending cards.
Do Sparks expire?
Sparks from a bundle last twelve months, and they do not expire at all while a subscription is active. Unused Sparks are refundable in full.
Will I be charged twice if I already have a plan?
No. A card sent while you are subscribed costs nothing more — that is what the subscription is. The send button says so before you press it.
Can I cancel?
Any time, from your account page, in one click. You keep the plan until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not ask why.

Sending and scheduling

Dates, bulk sends and the things that go wrong.

Can I write it now and send it on the day?
Yes, up to a year ahead. Set the date, pick their time zone, and nothing more is needed from you. 6 am on the day means 6 am where they are. Every plan, the free one included.
Can I put a card on an NFC tag, or print a QR code?
Yes, on every plan. On the send step choose "NFC tag or printed QR code" instead of email and nothing is posted to anyone: you get a link and a QR code with a transparent background, as PNG and SVG. Write the link to any NFC sticker with a free app (NFC Tools, choose URL) or print the code on the gift, the box, a menu, a receipt, a room key. One tap or scan and the card tears open on their phone, no app. It costs the same one Spark as any card, because it is the same card — the tag is how it travels. Emailed Sparks carry the same link and code too, on your card page.
Can I send the same card to a lot of people?
Yes. Upload a CSV with four columns — name, email, message and send_on — and only the email is required. A blank message uses the one you wrote on screen, and {name} in it becomes theirs.
What date format does the bulk upload want?
Year first: 2026-04-03, or 2026-04-03 08:30. A date like 03/04/2026 is refused rather than guessed, because it means two different days depending on where you are. A date already past is refused too.
How do I get more Sparks?
Sparks come in packs, and one Spark sends one card with no watermark. Bundle of Joy is 5 Sparks for $12.99 and Party Pack is 12 Sparks for $14.99; both are on the pricing page at https://www.greetspark.co/pricing. You can also pick a pack at the last step of making a card, or from the Get more Sparks button on your account page. Sparks are valid for 12 months, never renew, and never charge you again. If you send often, Unlimited Joy at $6.99 a month covers every card without counting Sparks at all.
How long does it take to make and send a card?
About ninety seconds, start to finish: pick the occasion, choose an animation, write the message, pick an envelope, check the preview and send. Adding a photo or recording a voice note takes another minute. The card arrives in their inbox within a minute of sending, and you can schedule it for a later date instead on any paid plan.
Can I send a card abroad, to another country?
Yes, anywhere in the world: Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, India, Pakistan, the Philippines, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico, anywhere with a phone. The card is a link, not a parcel: it arrives by email in the same minute, for your mom, dad, sister, friend or colleague overseas, and it opens on any phone in any country with no app to install. Nothing is posted, so there is no postage, no customs, no international fee and no waiting.
The card went to spam. What now?
Ask them to check the junk folder and mark it as not spam — that is usually the end of it. If you send often, Business lets cards arrive from your own domain, which is the real fix.
I sent it to the wrong address.
Email hello@greetspark.co with the card link. If it has not been opened we will break the link and put the Spark back.
Can I edit a card after sending it?
No — once it is sent it is theirs, the same as posting a real one. You can send a replacement, and if the first was never opened we will not charge you for the second.

Business and teams

Who the Business plan is for, colleagues, seats, and sending from your own domain.

Who is the Business plan for?
For HR teams, shops, real estate, clinics, hotels and brands that want every person thanked by name. HR teams use it for every birthday and work anniversary from one spreadsheet. Shops put an NFC tag or a QR code in the parcel so a thank-you from the founder tears open when the box does. Real estate agents send it on closing day and a year later. Clinics, dentists and vets send welcome and after-visit cards from the practice. Restaurants, salons and hotels put a code on the receipt, the mirror or the room key. If you thank people for a living and would rather it did not read like a campaign, it is for you.
Can I get a different QR code for each of 250 customers?
Yes. Upload a spreadsheet on the bulk page and choose "I hand them over". Names are enough — no email addresses — and you get back one zip: a links file with every name and address, a transparent QR code for each person as PNG and SVG, and an A4 sheet with the codes laid out and each name printed under its own. Each row is one Spark, the same as an emailed card, and each gets its own open tracking, so you can see which customer scanned theirs. For NFC at that number, send the link column to a tag supplier and order them pre-encoded rather than writing each one on a phone.
Can colleagues send from the same plan?
Business is $39.00 a month and includes 2 seats besides your own. Colleagues send from their own addresses using the same allowance and the same Sparks.
Can they see our billing?
No. A seat holder never sees receipts, a card number or the plan screen, and cannot change or cancel anything. You can take a seat back at any time; everything they sent stays sent and every link keeps working.
Can cards arrive from our own domain?
On Business, yes — cards@yourdomain.com instead of from us. Add the domain in your account, publish the DNS records it shows you, and it switches itself on when the records are found, usually within the hour. Until then your cards keep sending from our address; nothing is paused.
Can the letter be on our own web address, with our logo?
Not on Business. There, the letter, its page, the email and the video carry your name and not ours, but the link itself is on our web address. Your own address (spark.yourcompany.com), your logo and colours on every page, sending through your own mail server and your customer data on your own system are Private Deploy, licensed per company. Email hello@greetspark.co and we will walk you through it.
How many cards does a business plan cover?
500 a month, shared across the team. If one month needs more, the account holder adds 500 letters for $50.00 from the account page (ten cents a letter), and they count for that month straight away. Nothing recurring.
Do you invoice?
Every payment produces a receipt with our company details on it, which is what most finance teams need. If yours needs a formal invoice or a purchase order, email hello@greetspark.co and we will raise one.

Your account and your data

Signing in, privacy, and what we keep.

I never set a password.
There is no password. Put your email in at https://www.greetspark.co/account and we send a link that signs you in. Nothing to remember and nothing to leak.
What do you do with the recipient's address?
We deliver the card to it. Nothing else. Recipients are never added to a mailing list, never sold, and never emailed by us again unless you send them another card.
Do you read the messages people write?
No. Cards are stored so the link works and are not used for anything else — not marketing, not training a model. Automated checks look for fraud and bulk spam patterns, and they look at behavior, not sentiment.
Can I delete a card?
Yes, from your account. Deleting it breaks the link immediately, including for anyone you already sent it to — worth knowing before you press it.

Refunds and problems

Getting your money back, and the one case where you cannot.

Can I get a refund?
If the card has not been opened, yes — within fourteen days, for any reason or none. Email hello@greetspark.co with the card link.
And if it has already been opened?
Then it has been delivered and consumed, so a refund is at our discretion. In practice, if something went wrong — it rendered badly, it went late, it went to the wrong person — we refund it. We are not running a policy designed to win arguments over four dollars.
What if my account is closed for abuse?
Then nothing is refunded: not unused Sparks, and not the rest of a subscription period. That applies where a review has confirmed the service was used to deceive or defraud, to send unsolicited bulk mail, to harass or threaten, to distribute malware, or to send sexual content involving a minor. A person reads the account before that happens, an automatic pause on its own is not a closure and takes nothing from you, and if we get it wrong we reverse it and refund in full. The full policy is at https://www.greetspark.co/legal/refunds.
How long does a refund take?
We process it the day we read the request. Your bank then takes five to ten working days, which is out of our hands and, unfortunately, the part you will notice.
Something is broken and this page does not cover it.
Ask the help chat in the corner of any page — it answers from these same pages and passes anything it cannot answer to a person. Or email hello@greetspark.co directly. A person replies, usually the same day.

Still stuck?

How it works goes into the mechanics properly — seats, domains, the CSV shape and the allowances. The prices are all on one page, and the refunds policy is short enough to read in full.

Or just write to us. No ticket numbers.
